Interagro opens EUR 100mn bioethanol refinery

Interagro group, controlled by the local individual investor Ioan Niculae, completed the EUR 100mn investment in a bioethanol plant located in Zimnicea, Southern Romania. The plant will produce bioethanol but also vegetable oil for the domestic market and for export in Bulgaria. The group expects to sell the biofuel to the local refineries of OMV Petrom group, Rompetrol and Lukoil – which have to blend a share of green fuels in the final products delivered through the filling stations. The bioethanol refinery will employ 350, according to the company that has not disclosed many details about the capacity of the plant however.
